That was my dad’s favorite line, so often repeated it felt like Chinese water torture. And I used to think:
“How does he know? He’s never even crossed the Pyrenees!”
After years of hearing it, I felt the urge to do the exact opposite.
At 17, I set out to see the world, Phileas Fogg-style:

I’d jump at any excuse to pack my bags.
